I was waiting in anticipation when Street Food: Latin America premiered on Netflix, and was disappointed that Central America was not highlighted. I also wasn't surprised. I cannot count the amount of times my mom had to gently explain to strangers where El Salvador was located, and that indeed, there was a Central America in Latino America.
I love hearing about your journey and how it all ties to memories of our cultura. This came at the perfect time because I was just putting a Salvi playlist for my event, Cook the Cookbook: Salvi Soul in Chicago!
Thank you so much for reading! Yes, there is always so much that inspires. And I did see your event, what a wonderful idea. I absolutely love the idea. I will need to repost it so folks know it's happening!
I loved this piece because it's so relatable. I remember shying away when I'd see women in thongs on cassettes and posters in my uncle's zapateria in my beloved Jayaque. Thank you for always emphasizing the need to share stories about who and where we come from. Abrazos querida!

Same here. I wasn't surprised but I couldn't help but still be disappointed by it.
